1. How do I get a quote for a tattoo design? 
We prefer that you come into the studio for a more accurate quote or you can send an email to localtattoostudio@bigpond.com detailing the tattoo you want (attaching pictures is highly recommended) including the desired size and location. 
 

2. How do I make a booking? 
To make a booking you must come into the studio and make a $100 deposit. Although if you work away or can’t get in we'll sometimes make an exception for you. 
 

3. How much do you charge for a tattoo? 
We charge from $150 per hour for session work. Please note minimum charge for a tattoo is $150.
 

4. Do you do EFTPOS? 
Sorry we don’t offer EFTPOS, cash only. 
 

5. Do you take on apprentices or have any job openings? 
No. 
 

6. Can you draw up custom designs? 
Yes we tend to draw up free custom designs for people who work away or can’t get in. We also have over 3000+ designs in the studio including reference books to help you choose your next tattoo. 
 

7. How long is the average wait to get booked in? 
Usually about a month but we get cancellations at any time so keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest news and updates. 
 

8. How do I look after my new tattoo? 
Looking after your new tattoo is essential to reduce the chances of infection or quality loss. 

Important: Before tending to your new tattoo, always wash your hands! Treat it as if it’s an open wound as open flesh is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection. 

Right after your new tattoo is finished the tattooist will cover it with cellophane wrap. It's recommended to carefully remove it within 30minutes to an hour. There may be some ink and blood on the bandage, don't worry this is normal. If the bandage gets stuck soak it with luke warm water then carefully remove. 

You need to clean the tattoo. Do this by washing the tattoo in luke warm water. Softly using your hand or fingers wash away any ointment or blood. 
- Do NOT use a washcloth or anything abrasive. 
- Do NOT use bar soap or soap that is perfumed. 
Carefully pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel, do NOT rub. 

Using your clean fingertip, apply a thin layer of Bepanthem first-aid cream or suitable tattoo ointment (available for purchase at the studio). 
- Do NOT apply a thick layer as it may clog your pores. 
- Do NOT re-bandage. 
- Do NOT use Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly. 

Continue to apply this cream at least 3 times a day to make sure you keep your tattoo moistened. Do NOT let it dry out. If your fresh tattoo dries out you risk the chance of scabbing, which in turn may cause scaring or colour loss. After a few days your tattoo may start flaking (it will look like peeling after a sunburn) this is normal. Your tattoo may also start to itch; this is also normal and is a sign of healing. Keep applying a thin layer of cream until your tattoo is fully healed. Make sure you keep your tattoo clean using the method described before. During the first few days of your fresh tattoo it is usually advisable to keep it un-touched or covered with cellophane wrap during sleep. 

Notes: 
- Do NOT pick or scratch off any flaking skin or scabs if present. 
- Do NOT scratch your tattoo 
- Its highly recommended that you do NO swimming, spa's, saunas or sun bathing until your tattoo is fully healed. If you are going to be out in the sun regularly apply sunblock with a minimum of SPF 30+ to avoid fading. 
- Do NOT soak your tattoo for prolonged periods of time. Showering is okay (do not have long showers). 

Your new tattoo can take around 1 to 3 weeks to heal. The outcome of your tattoo depends on the care of your tattoo. I can guarantee my work, but I cannot guarantee the care you take, your artist did their part now it's up to you. 

Contact the studio if you have any major concerns about your new tattoo. 
 

9. Can I get a tattoo if I am pregnant, have a transmittable disease or on medications? 
No. 
 

10. Is it Safe? 
"The Local" Tattoo Studio offers a very safe and sterile environment. We always use new gloves for protection, Autoclave Sterilization and new needles for every customer. We thoroughly clean the studio and cover commonly touched parts with a barrier film. 
 

11. How do I prepare for a tattoo? Does it hurt? 
Yes, but pain varies from person to person and depends on the location of the tattoo. Try your best to relax and ignore it, this also makes life easier on the tattooist if you’re not tensing up. 

To help with getting your tattoo make sure you don’t come in on an empty stomach. Bring a drink with you to keep you hydrated. Do not drink any alcohol as it will cause your tattoo to bleed more, causing ink loss. It may also be advisable to come in comfy relaxed clothing as a tattoo can take hours.
